Missed 3.

56 was a disappointment. More taxes for those that can least afford it, and most of it not going to help people stop smoking. Maybe “save lives CA” will use the same mental agility to increase the taxes on alcohol next time. Oh, that’s right, Wine is a major CA industry, so don’t expect then to do that anytime soon.

61 would have been nice to pass, but considering all the misleading advertising it’s kind of expected that it didn’t. Big Phama put a great deal of money into making sure their profits wouldn’t be effected.

Finally, 64 passed. This should make the next few meetings of the Los Alamitos City Council fun as they do contortions to create laws to make it as difficult as possible for people to do what the law allows, grow their own six plants. At the last meeting they attempted to set up rules that said that you couldn’t grow them in your own backyard, but they could only be grown when they were in an enclosed and locked facility. You also had to get a permit/license from the city to allow you to grow it yourself for your own use. Let’s cover this one last time. Opiates are “gateway” drugs. Alcohol is a “gateway” drug. There is no evidence that pot is. But I can get opiates from a medical professional with ease these days, and alcohol from Vons, as much as I want in as many different forms as I want it. Hopefully the Los Al City Council will stop this insanity. Limit retail all you want, but let the grownups that elected you act like grownups and follow the law without paying the City of Los Al for the right to do so, or having to pay large expenses because you want it all under lock and key.

One Response to Cypress, Los Alamitos, Rossmoor, Seal Beach Election results

  1. Dave Emerson says:

At the end of the day today (Wednesday) only 9 more votes were counted for Cypress Measure GG: 4 more yes, 5 more no. New margin of defeat is not 372 votes. Pretty amazing, considering No was outspent by at least 100 to 1 and yes had the backing of Cypress’ 2nd largest church due and at least 4 of the 5 City Council Members. Congratulations to the No on GG forces. David defeats Goliath once again!
